Viton gauge glass washers are used in applications requiring higher temperature and chemical resistance than standard rubber materials. They create a tight seal between the gauge glass and the gauge body in high-pressure or high-temperature boiler service. Viton performs well in environments with steam, oils, fuels, and many industrial chemicals, maintaining elasticity and strength up to approximately 400 °F (204 °C). It is not recommended for continuous exposure to hot water or low-molecular-weight organic acids. Sealing surfaces should be clean and free of corrosion before installation, and washers should be replaced each time the gauge glass is changed. Store in a cool, dry location away from sunlight to preserve material performance.
